The new Revolutionary Army of the Infant Jesus album, Songs of Yearning, is perhaps their most coherent work to date. However, the path that led to it was a fascinating one and a number of pieces either changed enormously or simply didn't fit into the main album. It was felt that these pieces were of real value and that it'd be an enormous shame for them to languish unreleased so the decision was taken to release them as a companion album. Nocturnes is perhaps more sprawling, less tightly-focussed than Songs..., but these are more than mere outtakes. |
